The Nightmare Sword
Created by the Firbolg for a Fomori prince back in the times of the ancients. Included amongst it's powers are the ability to change size, ranging from that of a dirk to a full blown giantsized claymore. It was said to have the ability to open the ancient portals to the deep dreaming and to protect it's weilder from the dangers therein. It's name, the Nighmare sword was given it by the ancient sidhe against whom it was weilded in the battles of sidhe versus fomori as it did the damage of cold iron when it hit, the wounds would never heal and the injured, if they did not die straight out were cursed with nightmares for eternity.
Mention is made that the Nightmare Sword was buried with the prince when he died as none but one of his blood could safely wield it. [Totally flase and the sort of thing that gets spread to prevent graverobbing]
The manuscript also mentions a ring that can mitigate the curse of weilding the sword to a minor level eg from death to cursed. However, the wording style and hand it is written in differs and appears to have been added at a much later date. [This information is untrue and has nothing at all to do with the sword itself. However, the Prince did have a ring he always wore. It was the ring of his leadership]
